La joie de vivre dans un monde pourri

La Joie de vivre dans un monde pourri is a series of six paintings exploring how joy persists within an unequal and imperfect world. Using a bold visual language shaped by colour, graphic clarity and layered figurative forms, the works describe different emotional climates shaped by comfort, pressure, authority, privilege, endurance and restraint. The series is currently in development.

The project began with a simple question: how does joy survive in imperfect systems? Rather than disappearing, joy changes form. It becomes comfortable, excessive, obedient, protected, persistent, or hidden. Each painting describes one of these conditions. The works do not represent specific countries or political events. Instead, they explore emotional environments shaped by inequality, power and access - situations that exist in different forms across the contemporary world.
Colour and clarity play an important role. The paintings use a bright visual language influenced by pop art and graphic design, creating images that appear inviting and direct. This sense of pleasure is intentional. It reflects the human need to find beauty and vitality even within systems that are often unbalanced or restrictive. Beneath the surface, the compositions are built through interruptions and overlaps. Figures share space without fully connecting. Shapes contain or obstruct one another. What initially appears harmonious reveals subtle tensions and uneven relationships.
